Onethirty prodigy and label boss, Jevne, returns for his third big release on the red hot Onethirty Recordings label. Fresh off the success of “The Chrome EP” (130-002), which received worldwide acclaim-even being played on Digweed’s Kiss 100 radio show. Jevne kicks out a stormer with the help of Bristol’s own, Deepgroove. Already known as a label that offers “something for everyone,” “Greenway” is no exception with hints of tribal funk, housey goodness and a sexy, sleazy, filthy dub from Deepgroove, already being played by Donald Glaude, Dj Dan and Tony Thomas.
The title track, "Greenway," begins with tight afro-influenced tribal percussion opening into a funky guitar riff that kicks the track up to a groovy vibe. Building up the funk, the first bass line drops in, guaranteeing everyone will hit the dance floor, where they are treated to a smooth, twisting verbed out synth that creeps in building the track into a prime time tribal funk experience! “Greenway” twists and turns its way into the breakdown where it dynamically explodes into a throw down groove that is impossible to deny. Just when the dance floor thinks it can’t get any better, Chuck Love puts down a mean guitar solo that embodies all that is FUNK.
“Night Life” hears Jevne take another ride on the tribal funk sound with a deep rumbley bass line, a circus like synth and cool stabs riding tight percussion to create a smooth rhythmic jammer. The catchy vocal, “nightlife,” echoes into the break and builds to say “it’s the time of you life…” while dropping into the swirled out groove! A distinct female vocal whines in and out, developing the track while complimenting the synth stabs. A true tribal throw down!
Bristol’s Deepgroove, Grayson Shipley and Lee Pattison, known for their past work on labels like Junior, Distraekt, Intra, Slave and Kinky Vinyl deliver a cutting edge filthy house workout of “Greenway” sure to hit the boxes of the big boys. The “Dirty Dub” comes out with a sharp house groove utilizing the breathy vocal sample from the original and a grinding, jackin bassline that is sure to suck you in. A dirty, acid influenced synth ebbs and flows through the track building into the tripped out break down with some serious low end. Tribal madness ensues, rumbling you through a big room teaser, ultimately releasing you back into the gritty groove that only Deepgroove can conjure up! A must have.
